Arjun Popat

Arjun joined Freemans in October 2020 as a paralegal and in March 2022 he commenced his training in the Immigration Department. Having now completed his training, Arjun qualified as a solicitor in the Criminal Department in January 2024.

Arjun studied at the University of Bristol where he studied Italian & Spanish. He then completed an MA in law for which he not only obtained a Distinction, but also received the Dean’s Commendation for Academic Achievement. Arjun has also worked as a Star Student Ambassador for the University of Bristol, setting an example for prospective students.

Bringing significant experience from outside of law to add to his legal expertise, Arjun is fluent in both Spanish and Italian. While studying, Arjun also volunteered at the Avon & Bristol Law Centre, where he assisted vulnerable tenants in precarious housing situations.

While in the Criminal Department, Arjun has assisted in the defence of privately funded and legally aided clients, these are interalia:

• The first ever MHRA Prosecution
• Crown Court matters, ranging from murder and rape to robbery and firearms offences
• Magistrates’ Court cases, including criminal damage and breach of court orders
• HMO cases
• Proceeds of Crime matters

Outside the office, Arjun can be found in many places, from reading or enjoying musicals at the theatre to playing cricket and watching his favourite football team.
