Gulizar specialises in a range of matters on the law relating to children representing parents, relatives and also children and their guardians. She has particular expertise in proceedings dealing with complex issues involving psychological and psychiatric disorders, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child sexual exploitation, drug and alcohol abuse, Parental Alienation, Deprivation of Liberty Orders, and neglect. Gulizar regularly conducts her own advocacy and has acted in complex High Court public law cases involving lengthy, multi-day and multi-party hearings in areas such as non-accidental injury, factitious illness and intergenerational sexual exploitation.
Gulizar has experience in acting in cases with complex international elements including repatriated children caught up in ISIS territory. Gulizar also represents parents and children through their Rule 16.4 Guardians in private law proceedings in relation to Child Arrangements Orders, for time spent and lives with Order. Gulizar also has experience representing children with gender identity complexities.
Gulizar is a member of the Law Society Children’s Panel and is a fluent Turkish speaker and has extensive experience representing parents whose first language is not English.
Gulizar graduated with a 2:1 Honours Degree from Westminster University in 2007 and went on to successfully complete her post graduate studies at the College of Law in London in 2008. Gulizar has completed her training in the area of Family Law and was admitted as a solicitor in November 2013. She joined Freemans Children team as an Associate in January 2023.
