Louise is an experienced specialist Employment Solicitor dealing with matters arising from the world of work, whether contentious or non contentious. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2002 and joined Freemans in 2016.
Louise assists employers with contracts, policies, procedures and employee communications as well as strategies for dealing with staff issues such as underperformance, misconduct and absence, when employees raise grievances or blow the whistle and advising on redundancy, restructuring and TUPE.. She helps individuals with Settlement Agreements or advising on Contracts of Employment or Consultancy Contracts. She is also able to advise both employers and employees in cases involving restrictive covenants and employee competition.
She has dealt with Employment Tribunal claims on behalf of both employees and employers involving almost all aspects of Employment Law, including Unfair Dismissal, Constructive Dismissal, Discrimination and Harassment, Whistleblowing, TUPE, Redundancy, Breach of Contract, Holiday Pay and Deductions from Wages. Louise also has a particular interest in cases involving Pregnancy and Maternity Discrimination and arising from rights afforded to parents and carers. She has represented clients in the Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal as well as at first instance.
As a Tribunal advocate, Louise is well placed to give clients early advice as to the prospects of success at Tribunal and the merits or otherwise of settlement as well as being able to ensure that cases are properly prepared in a way to best present the evidence to the Tribunal Judge.
An active member of the Employment Lawyers Association, Louise sits on their Legislative and Policy Committee and is currently co-chair of their working party looking at Brexit. She is also the Legal Ambassador for Parents in Performing Arts, an organisation campaigning for family friendly working practices in theatre, dance and music.
Out of hours, Louise enjoys running, baking and following football, cricket, cycling and athletics.
